REGISTRATION BASICS
Town Registration Fee
You must include the Town of Arlington registration fee each time you register for any tennis season, and we have 3 - Spring, Summer, and Fall. The Town of Arlington requires a registration fee each season for participation in all adult or youth programs held at the Arlington Tennis Center including prepaid scheduled clinics, drop-in classes and private lessons. Fees are $25 for Arlington residents (a registered incorporated Arlington address) and $50 for non-residents (unincorporated Arlington, Lakeland, Bartlett, Cordova, Eads, and all other non-residential addresses). The fee is paid once a season and covers all programs. This was voted on by our local elected officials and not within our control. As part of ATO’s contract with the Town, we are required to collect those fees and pay them on your behalf in one amount to minimize the public traffic in local government buildings.
Choosing a Level
Classes on our registration forms are divided into Beginner/Advanced Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced categories. Students should be registered according to their grade level in the appropriate category. Our coaches will assess students during classes and make any adjustments to individual student levels if needed to group students according to skill level. Current students can move up to the Intermediate/Advanced classes when they have been promoted by a coach or passed a skills check. If your child is new to ATO but has experience elsewhere, please contact us if you have a question about which level is appropriate.
REMIND Text Messages
REMIND is our primary form of last minute communication for youth programs. Don’t miss important messages about weather cancellations or schedule changes! Only the phone number you use on the registration form will be invited to that season’s Remind text alert. Please accept the invitation to receive notifications. Anyone else needing the information can add themselves to the alert by texting the number 81010 with the message @25ato. We can not respond to individual texts or calls about court or class status so joining the REMIND alert is very important.
Absence Policy
Due to many factors, pre-registered youth classes are unable to schedule individual make-ups for students who miss. Just like many other activities, your child’s seasonal fee holds a place in the group for the season whether they attend every class or not. There are often wait lists of other students who are able and willing to attend every class. In addition, our coaches are pre-hired for the entire season based on registration numbers and ratios, not actual attendance. However, all classes that are cancelled by ATO due to weather will be rescheduled before the end of the season.
Drop-in Clinics
Some students may receive invitations to specific drop-in clinics geared to their level. These clinics are optional practice opportunities between or in addition to our regular seasonal classes and require no up-front commitment except rsvp. Drop-in clinics are posted on GroupMe and instructions will be sent in your invitation email. Drop-in fees are paid directly to the coach when your child checks in at the beginning of class.
