    program descriptions

    • LADDER CHALLENGE - Get singles match play experience against a variety of opponents similar in skill level, a vital piece of your tennis player’s development. All players must be able to serve, rally, and keep score independently. No true beginners, and no coaches on court. Top high school players will compete against each other. Middle school results will be used to determine the ACT lineup, and are mandatory for those participating in season. ACT Players MUST be able to manage their own matches in a mature way during the Ladders to show readiness to begin season. Once the matches are completed and the order of the ladder is established, students can challenge their way up the ladder against those ranked above them as time permits during season. This program is perfect preparation for those wanting to get ready for a season or play in the ATO Fall Tournament.

    • K-5TH CLINICS - Learn fundamental tennis skills for hand-eye coordination, tracking, footwork, groundstrokes, volleys, and serves. Clinics are game based to develop a love of the game, are focused on fun. Students grouped on separate courts by age and/or ability to allow small group instruction and progression to the next level as needed.

    • BEGINNER/ ADVANCED BEGINNER/ INTERMEDIATE ACADEMY - This group is for 6th-12th grade students who are new to the game, or returning players still developing fundamentals to prepare for and improve recreational or competitive experience. Short periods of large group instruction for review of fundamental form and footwork, break out small group instruction across multiple courts with small ratios, plus point play and a game based approach makes this the perfect first or next step for your emerging, recreational, or aspiring competitive middle and high school athletes!

    • HIGH SCHOOL TEAM TRAINING - This group is for our highest level of competitive high school players who are preparing for their next school season. Seasoned players only. Students must have competitive experience and extensive instruction already in place. Groups will be spread out for drills, coached singles and doubles games, and point play, grouped together by ability. Ideal for those who will be playing for their high school teams.

    • ARLINGTON COMMUNITY TENNIS TEAM (ACT) - We have both Boys and Girls ACT teams for middle school players. ACT has a full season of matches with programs all around the District, followed by a local District tournament with the opportunity for all local programs to compete at State. Gold Division is for the top 5 players on each team. Silver Division is for players #6-10. Bronze Division is for everyone #11 and below. This is a no-cut program. All players able to pass a basic skills test are invited to participate and will get to play in regular season matches at the Gold, Silver, or Bronze levels. Gold players compete in mostly doubles, with one official singles match per school. Silver and Bronze players compete in doubles only for official matches. Top 8 players for each team will travel to Paducah, KY, on a team trip. Each district opponent can enter 3 teams of 5 players in Gold, Silver, and Bronze Divisions for boys (15 total boys), and also 3 girls teams (15 total girls). We will also take teams in each Division to the state tournament in Nashville, TN.

    • ATO FALL TOURNAMENT - Join our 4th annual local singles & doubles tournament hosted at the Arlington Tennis Center, with age divisions for 12’s, 14’s, & 18’s for Boys and Girls. Main draw and consolation brackets, so every participant is guaranteed a minimum of two singles matches. All levels of players able to complete independent matches are welcome. Shirts and medals included.

    • HIGH SCHOOL / ACT ADVANCED ACADEMY - These intermediate and advanced team players work hard in 2 hour blocks of time on advanced topics of skill development such as hitting open stance, on the rise, on the run, using both topspin and slice, specialty shots such as the drop shot, inside out forehand, swinging volley, etc. All drills incorporate complex footwork and conditioning necessary for players interested in successful competition in the starting lineups of their school teams or in local JTT seasons or USTA tournaments.

    • INTRAMURALS - Students 6th-12th must have completed a session of clinics, camp, a season on a school team, or be in private lessons to participate. Younger skilled students allowed with coach recommendation. Put your fundamental skills to work! A coach works on every court with 4 players each to reinforce rules of the game, practice doubles strategy, court positioning, shot selection, and get match play experience. This program is available for beginners needing coach toss serves (DEVELOPMENTAL), or for independent players (ADVANCED BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATES & ADVANCED). All matches arranged against similar skill level.

    • LID - Our newest program is the Ladder of Intergenerational Doubles (LID). Sign up with a partner of your choice who is a similar level, regardless of age or gender. Your estimated USTA levels are added together to give you a “Combo” total of your levels, and you will remain with your partner all fall. This co-ed program will begin with a round robin style event of similar combo levels to determine the overall LID. Then challenge matches continue on weekends with opportunities to challenge your way up the ladder, or be challenged and move down the ladder. Just as in Generations, all levels and ages welcome. Initial combo groups to form the LID can range from 4.0 groups to 9.0 teams.
